Bentleigh is a suburb in located in The Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne, 13 km south-east of Melbourne’s central business district. Its local government area is the City of Glen Eira. At the 2011 Census, Bentleigh had a population of 14,920.
The area was known as East Brighton before being named Bentleigh in 1908 after the Victorian Premier, Sir Thomas Bent.
In 1908 it was renamed Bentleigh in line with the station name.
