About Deer Park

Deer Park was originally named as Kororoit Creek, because of the creek that runs right through the suburb. It was however renamed after the Melbourne Hunt Club, as they decided to use the area to home their stock of game deer. In 1889, Kororoit Creek was then named as Deer Park.

Deer Park is 17km west of the CBD, located within the City of Brimbank local government area.

The suburb is serviced by a railway station on the Melton greater-metropolitan line and is also serviced by the trains running via the Regional Rail Link. Bus routes and Ballarat Road also carry traffic between Melbourne and Ballarat.

For the families, there are a number of parks with playgrounds and BBQ facilities and also a fully enclosed dog park in the area as well.

The suburb boasts two public primary schools, a Catholic primary school, and a secondary college.
