About Watsonia

Before the development of Watsonia, it was originally owned by the Wurundjeri people. Later on it was named after Frank Watson, a property and landowner.

Watsonia is located in the north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne, approximately 16 kilometres from the CBD. The local governing area for the suburbs is the City of Banyule. The 2016 census showed that Watsonia had a population of 5,214 people.

The demographics for the area are: 78% of residents were born in Australia. 2.3% from England, 2,0% from China, 1.3% from India. 1.0% from Italy and 0.8% from Sri Lanka.
