The suburb of Parkville was originally known as Park-ville or Park ville. The origins of the suburb is unknown, however experts say that the name was derived from Royal Park. 

Parkville is located in the inner suburbs of Melbourne, approximately 3 kilometres north of the CBD. The local governing area for the suburb, are the Cities of Moreland and Melbourne. The 2021 census indicates that Parkville had a population of around 7,409.
